Simple Fingerpicking Exercise – Build Thumb & Index Finger Control
This fingerpicking exercise will help you build better thumb and index finger control by practicing repeated patterns across different string sets.
In this lesson, you’ll work on a simple fingerpicking pattern using your thumb and index finger. The exercise moves through repetitions on strings 6 and 4, then 5 and 3, and finally 6 and 3.
It may sound simple, but it can be harder than it looks if you’re new to fingerpicking. The fretting hand is kept very simple, using just one finger at a time, so you can focus on developing your picking-hand control, accuracy, and coordination.
